Bowel cancer

Hello everyone my name is Lindsay, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer with meta on my liver on august 2023. I started chemotherapy up until sept 24 when this treatment wasn’t working as well as it should be, so my consultant changed me to Oxiliplatin (folfox) had many stays in hospital on and off poorly but now I’m now back on my treatment and is going well.

im on palliative chemo so any day is precious to me with my husband and three children aged 19, 17, 15. Would be good to speak to others in the same situation as me, make new friends would be a bonus xx

  • A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat, Lindsey.
I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but it’s great to hear that you’re now back on treatment and that it’s going well. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot, but it’s clear you’re facing it with strength and resilience, and I’m sure that will be of great comfort to your family.
Being on palliative chemotherapy can bring a lot of uncertainty, and it’s understandable that you want to connect with others in a similar situation. You’re not alone here, many people will be able to relate to what you’re going through and will be happy to share their experiences.
If you’d like more information on palliative treatment and how it can support you during this time, here’s a link to a helpful page on our website I’m including in this message.
You can also speak with one of our nurses for support or advice. They’re available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
I hope you find comfort and support in our community.
    All the best,
    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
