Have been waiting over 4 months for a hysteroscopy to check for womb cancer

Hi. I'm Alison. Had stage 1 breast cancer at 44. Lumpectomy and radiation. Been on tamoxifen for 2.5 years. Currently waiting over 4 months for a hysteroscopy under general anasthetic 2 check for womb cancer. I cant cope with the waiting. Been here before. Everything seems to take so long.

  • Hello Alison

I'm sorry to hear that you find yourself once again in the position of waiting for tests to check for a possible cancer diagnosis. This period of waiting can be excruciating and it's understandable that you may be struggling.

Have you spoken with the hospital about the length of time since the initial appointment? Have they given you an indication of when you may be given a date for the procedure? It may be worth getting in touch with the hospital PALS team. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS so do think about giving your local team a call or dropping them an email.

In the meantime, if it would help to talk with someone about your concerns you're most welcome to give our nurses a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully, you will have an appointment date soon Alison and the team will be able to give you some reassurance before too long. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
