Had tests for stomach issues, provided stool sample. Been asked to book urgent appt with GP. Should I be worried?

Hey not sure if this is the right place but just a bit freaked out, and wondered if anything g had something similar happen with the. I’ve been getting tests done for stomach issues, gave in stool sample Tuesday and received a call from doctor to book an urgent appointment….obviously thinking worse case scenario didn’t know if anyone had been through this

  • Hello Lisalou82

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems recently and that following some recent tests you've been asked to make an urgent appointment with your GP. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

We know that for many people this period of waiting for tests, results and answers can be really difficult and it's natural that we will think about all possible outcomes including a worst-case scenario. Whilst it's easy for me to say, try not to overthink things and keep a positive mindset if you can. Worrying won't change the outcome of your test results but it's likely that it will leave you feeling physically worse in the meantime.

It can often help to talk with someone about your concerns and emotions. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the appointment with your GP and they will be able to give you some reassurance but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040. I know they will be happy to offer any support they can.

Do keep in touch Lisalou82 and let us know how you get on.

Sending you my very best wishes,
