Tumour removed told LAMN low grade

Good afternoon, I received a diagnosis today of a low grade rare cancer LAMN.
I went into hospital with what was thought to be appendicitis, when they did a CT they explained it was complex and they would need to operate that night.  They felt they had succeeded in removing all of the tumour Draining a cyst and removing my appendix’s.
I am now awaiting a report from a specialist team.. Before they decide what the next move is..

It has come as a shock with the words rare cancer, having lost both parents and grandparents to cancer. But I aim to stay positive and focused as I believe it is important.

That doesn’t mean to say I don’t need support, and a safe place to air my concerns

Thank you for taking the time to read this

  • Hi Simonite,

I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I too was diagnosed with a rare cancer, pseudomyxoma peritonei, about 14 months ago. This came as a huge shock. I had a major operation last March and I am awaiting an appointment for my first annual check up next month.  I fully understand how worried you must be but you are right to stay positive.  That's how I've got through the past year.  I hope you hear from the specialist team soon. Wishing you lots of luck x
