Gist diagnosis

Hi all,

I would just like to introduce my self, I'm a 54 year old male and have recently (Sept 24) been diagnosed with gist, It is around my duodenum and spread to my liver. I'm currently on Imitinab and now waiting on the results of my first 3 month scan.

If anyone who is in a similar situation, please feel free to reach out, I think it would be beneficial to share each others journeys through this. Take care.

  • Hi

My husband has been diagnosed with stage 4 GIST. He has an appointment with an oncologist next week and we are really hoping he can get started on medication. In the past 3 days he has gone downhill, having a lot of pain & barely eating. I’m so worried he won’t be able to have the medication. I would welcome advice from anyone going through this

  • Hi Julie, that sounds exactly like myself 7 months ago.(M.54)  Once I got over the I inital shock things began to change. My team soon sorted out a plan for my pain ( which worked)  and my appetite came slowly back. I have stage 4 GIST duodenum and liver and currently on Imitinab since October. I have been for an oncology meeting today and had wonderful news that results from last PET and MRI scan than I have no active cancer cells, whilst my duodenum tumour has halved in size to 2.8cm fro 5.6 and originally I had 7 lesions on my liver, 2 have completely gone and the other 5 have dramatically reduced in size ranging from 16mm to 8 mm. I hope that my success can raise a hope for you. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need to chat. Take care.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It’s great news that things are looking positive for you and will hopefully continue. It gives me hope for the future.

    Take care
