Sister diagnosed with rare terminal sarcoma, gall bladder

Hi there.  My sister has just been told that she has terminal sarcoma, gall bladder.  She has had surgery to remove the mass, but unfortunately  the Oncologist has just said they can only give pain killers.

This is apparently  a rare cancer.  To make matters worse I lost my brother last year with Oesophagel cancer, and my mother, grandmother and aunt with breast cancer.

Can you really check for all these cancers especially the less common, and if it is difficult to pick up in the early stages how does one deal with this ?

.

  • Hi Teevee and welcome to the forum.

From what you've mentioned in your post, it sounds like cancer has sadly been quite prominent in your life and I'm so sorry to hear another member of your family has been affected.

I can't begin to imagine how you must be feeling at the moment but our members are here for you and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer some words of comfort and advice.

Unfortunately I can't offer any insight on the question you've asked at the end of your post, but our team of cancer nurses may be able to help so if you'd like to talk things through with them, they are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They will do all they can to support you and answer this and any other questions that are on your mind.

I know nothing I can say will make this any easier but I hope being a part of our community will help you feel less alone and give you the strength you need to help you through this very challenging and uncertain time.

    Best wishes to you both,
