First mammogram

Hi everyone I'm new here and looking some advice and support. I'm a nervous wreck. Went to doctors yesterday as my right breast is firm and nipple pulling in. She couldn't feel any lumps but want me to get checked as I'm 48. Around 3 hrs after my appointment the hospital phoned me and want me in for mammogram and the end of the month. A bit of background about 10 yrs ago I had a lump under my arm and was sent for an ultrasound on it. Turns out it was fatty tissue. The fatty tissue never left and it still there but swollen again. Any advice to help would be appreciated thank you.

  • Hi Dragonfly77,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I hope you are getting on OK, I know that the uncertainty and waiting for more information is never easy.

It's good to hear that you have had this checked and that a referral is in place, as you will get the answers you need soon.

Some find it helps to keep busy while waiting for appointments, to try to keep your mind off the worries. Although this can sometimes be easier said than done.

I'm sure there will be others here with similar experience, so hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
