Secondary breast cancer - brain mets and leptomengieal disease

Still getting my head, literally around my new secondary diagnosis.  Originally diagnosed with breast cancer January 2023, had a full pathological response and no evidence of disease. ( I am 42 years young)

November 2024 started with headaches, got told cancer in my head, remove biggest lesion then hope to have SRS, targeted radiotherapy.  Christmas eve had a craniotomy to remove the biggest lesions with the hope to have SRS on the others.  The MRI after the surgery has shown leptomengieal disease now, so they can't give me SRS.  I start Enhertu treatment on Wednesday to helpfully control the lesions and disease.

Up until November I had been feeling fabulous and was living with life after Cancer.

Anybody else had this disease and what treatment did you have?

I had Her 2 positive breast cancer.

  • Welcome to the forum Nutty82, although I'm sorry to hear about your secondary cancer diagnosis of brain mets and leptomengieal disease.

It must have been very upsetting to find out you could no longer have the SRS but hopefully the Enhertu will be just as effective at keeping everything under control.

I hope you hear back from some of our members who have contended with this disease soon, but if you have any other questions or concerns about your diagnosis and/or treatment that you'd like to discuss with someone, then do give our cancer nurses a call.
