Grandad diagnosed with oesophageal cancer

My grandad has been diagnosed on Friday with oesophageal cancer, I am heartbroken. He and my grandma are my people and I am not ready for the potential of losing him. He is 83 years young, he is so full of life. I can't stop thinking the worse and googling makes everything feel worse.

I'm not expecting a response but seeing if writing this helps me.

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Abs147 although I'm sorry to hear your grandad has just been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.

This must be a very difficult time for you all right now, but our members are here for you Abs147 and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

You can find out more about oesophageal cancer on our website but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and address any other worries or concerns you may have at this time.

In the meantime, try to stay away from Google and keep on posting if you find it helps. We'll always be here to listen and I hope being a part of our community can reassure you that you are not alone.

    Kind regards,
