Results with oncologist

Hi. In the past few weeks I've had a womb biopsy and mri plus more bloods (previous scan had found 5.5cm uterine lining and a 7cm solid lesion) but I haven't received my results yet. Yesterday I had a text reminding me of my appt with a gynae oncologist!

Different consultant to who I saw at local hospital and the fact that it's the oncology dept has freaked me out!

Is this just how you get your results?

Thanks all

  • Hi,

I’m commenting as I would also be interested to see responses to this.

I have had scans and a needle aspiration on a salivary gland and now have an in person appointment this week with the ENT team, which I assume is for the results as the tests were done before Christmas (the aspiration around 6 weeks ago now!).

I have only had one ENT appointment to now and it was largely with a lady doctor with a surgeon coming in for a couple of minutes towards the end. The letter for this week’s appointment didn’t give a specific name of who I would be seeing (it just says the name of this same surgeon or a member of the ENT team as it did for the first initial appointment). I also feel a bit like you in that I don’t necessarily know who and what to expect! The phone call booking the appointment and the confirmatory letter makes no reference to oncology for me, but I don’t know if that means anything one way or the other. Like you it raises many questions (does the timescale of the appointment mean anything, why is it in person and not a phone call etc.) but I am trying my best not to read too much into it, but it’s difficult during this long drawn out process!

I hope all goes well in your appointment and that you don’t have much longer to wait for answers x

I haven't even had a letter. I'm going to try and phone the  doctors in the morning. Good luck you too.

  • That’s very strange. Perhaps it is still in the post. Do you have the NHS app? It may be visible on there. I have only had my letter for this week’s appointment via the app so far, but it was only scheduled on Thursday so may be in the post. I also had my “reminder” text yesterday, so again before the copy by post. I would definitely call in the morning to try to find out more, but I expect it will be Royal Mail’s fault!x

Good to know that we are confused together lol. The apot in my app confuses me even more because ut tells me to go to the Colcoscopy dept. So am I having another test? And why? I'll let you know if I get any joy tomorrow trying to find out. You've had along wait too. Cross fingers we both get good news this week.

  • Hahaha, yes we are. I think that’s a theme of this whole process! I know they say less is more, but definitely not in these circumstances!

Wow, they have made it confusing for you! Definitely call tomorrow and I hope that clears up any confusion for you and please do update me!

  • Hi, I was just wondering if you managed to get some clarity on things?x

Sorry I said I'd let you know. The appt is definitely for results. But it's the Colposcopy area x

Plus o received a letter yesterday to confirm the appt.

  • Oh that’s great, I’m glad to see it has been clarified for you. I hope it all goes well for you!x
