Glioma

Hello. My son 33 has a glioma low grade but it can’t be operated on. He has had 3 temporary paralysis episodes on one side affecting his arm and leg, with normal feeling anfter a few minutes.

After one of these he went into a tonic clinic seizure. Since starting medicine he has been symptom free for a year but this week had another paralysis and weakness on one side but the feeling isn’t returning as before. He can weight bearing and all reflexes and nerves are working. It seems to be a lack of proprioception. Is it just a question of time or is it permanent damage?

  • Hello 00Pomme

I'm sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis and that he's recently had another episode that has left him with some issues around proprioception. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned.

Have you spoken with his care team? They will be best placed to talk with you about this problem and what may be done to improve things if possible.

If you'd like to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

    Best wishes,
