I had lobular cancer, had a double mastectomy

Feeling super fit after a great holiday. End of August saw a lump, from then onwards it all moved very fast. It was Lobular cancer, which is pretty rare. It is very hard to detect by a mammogram, as it is in the milk ducts.. I came off HRT had full body and bone scan, but had a double mastectomy with implants and saved nipples. Now taking Lazerol pills which at the moment make me feel sick, and I have lost my libido hence very emotional. But no cancer or further treatment needed. Any one else feels the same.

  • Hi Tennisfan and welcome to Cancer Chat.

It sounds like you've been on quite the journey since being diagnosed with lobular cancer. I'm glad your treatment has gone well, although I'm sorry to hear about some of the side effects you've been experiencing since you start taking Letrozole.

A lot of our members know how difficult it can be to contend with some of these side effects, so you are not alone in feeling this way, and hopefully you will get to hear about their experiences and receive some support and advice from them soon.

If you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday (except bank holidays) between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to support you and answer any other questions you may have about this.

Do keep posting if you find it helps Tennisfan and we hope the sickness you're feeling, as well as loss of libido, start to improve for you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
