Uterine cancer

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in September. I decided to go ahead with preventative brachatherapy. I was ok for the first two weeks after treatment but now the sickness and exhaustion is difficult to cope with. I am thankful for the treatment to prolong life but  the thought of doing exercise to combat the exhaustion is difficult to contemplate.

  • Hello Seena34,

Welcome to Cancer Chat and I'm sorry to learn about your diagnosis and how the treatment is affecting you. On our website, there is information on side effects of womb cancer radiotherapy and ways of coping, which may be useful. As I'm sure you're aware, exercise is a good way of reducing side effects, but it doesn't have to be rigorous workout. It can be something gentle like walking and, most importantly, it should be an activity that you enjoy.

Do make your medical team aware of these problems, if you haven't already, and if you would like to speak to one of our cancer nurses about anything you can call the freephone 0808 800 4040. The nurses' phone lines are open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday, but please be aware that the lines will be closed on New Year's Day, 1st January and reopening Thursday 2nd January.

    All the best to you,
