Hello, waiting for breast biopsy and really scared

Hello everyone,

i found a lump in my breast a few weeks ago and have been through doctor to mammogram/ultrasound and then had a biopsy on Monday 23rd December. I have been trying really hard not to think about it over Christmas but I am really struggling and the worry is worst in the middle of the night. I guess it could turn out ok? But the radiographer said it definitely wasn’t a cyst and that there were some bits that looked suspicious. She also thought my lymph nodes were swollen so I’m panicking that it’s really serious and fast growing (I had a mammogram in Feb that was clear). I know I am an overthinker but this is weighing so heavily on me. I know no one can tell me it will definitely be ok but I just wanted to feel less alone. Thank you for reading

  • Hello Twitter

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a breast lump. It's good to know that you've already been seen in the breast clinic and that you're now waiting for the results of the biopsies taken at that appointment.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult. It's natural for our minds to wander to the worst-case scenarios. Did the team tell you when you may hear some news? Hopefully, it won't be too long before you have your next appointment and whatever the results the team will be able to offer some reassurance about the next steps.

In the meantime, if it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses for some advice and support you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

Do keep in touch Twitter and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
