Urgent referral

Hi, I’m 48 years old and have been having heavy irregular periods and large blood clots. It was discovered I was severely anaemic and iron deficient and had to have 2 blood transfusions. I’ve just had a pelvis and trans vaginal scan done and it shows abnormal thickening of the uterus. The sonographer has made an urgent referral and told me to try not to worry. Has anyone had an urgent gyno referral due to having uterus lining thickening?

  • Hello Sanah42

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been having some concerns about your health and it's good to know that you've already had some initial investigations.

It's understandable that you're feeling anxious but try not to worry too much about things as worrying won't change the outcome but will leave you feeling worse while waiting for your referral appointment.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays). I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your referral appointment and the team will be able to give you some reassurance when you see them.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
