Waiting for my referral to Urology (possible bladder cancer)

Hi, I'm new to the forum and am connecting to stop myself from getting overwhelmed by what might happen on my referral and diagnosis.  Had 2 urine tests showing red and white blood cell levels high with no infection and have abdominal pain so Dr has made urgent referral.  Now very anxious and worried about what will happen.  Lost both my Mum and younger sister to cancer so has hit me hard.  I'm on my own so no one to really talk things through with.  Just trying to stay positive but not easy.

  • Hello WelshMolly

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns recently and that you're currently waiting for an appointment with the specialists. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious particularly as you've lost both your Mum and younger sister to cancer.

It's not always easy to stay positive while waiting for appointments. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult. Try to avoid searching online for answers and take things a day at a time. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long and the specialists will be able to give you some answers and reassurance when you see them.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch WelshMolly and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
