Attendance Review mwwt8n

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had a hysterectomy in mid October.  I am.presently off sick while I recover.  I work for the civil service who have been supportive, I took a lot of medical appointments out of my annual leave.  I have now had a text to my personal mobile phone to attend an Attendace Review meeting next week on Teams on my work laptop.  Should they really be bothering me with this while Iam still on recovery?  Its only a month since the op and although Iam better, Iam not 100%.

  • Hi

I would contact an organisation called ACAS they will be able to advise you on your rights and what your employer legally can and can't do. They will also speak to your employer on your behalf if necessary. As far as I know all help is F.O.C. xx

  • Thanks for that.  I will contact them today.

  • Hi Flossy

You should attend the review. It will allow you to let them know how you are keeping and how much time off you will need to recover enough to return to work and for them to plan and make arrangements to cover for your absence.

You could also use the review to let them know of any special requirements you might need on your return. Flexible working time or working from home, restrictions on lifting etc.

Look on the review as a positive meeting, keeping in mind as your employer, they have a legal duty of care for you.

Best of wishes for your continuing recovery.
