introduction - recently diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma

Hello

I was recently diagnosed with stage 2a melanoma on my scalp. This was a bombshell on its own, but the CT scans have also shown a growth in the brain which they don't think is melanoma.. Specialist neurology team now  looking at the scans. Since diagnosis I have become a nervous wreck. I felt absolutely fine before. I don't want to feel sorry for myself, but I'm  just so scared and don't know who to talk to.

  • Hi,

I'm so sorry that you have been hit with two sets of awful news. Whilst you are waiting for further tests to establish the growth in your brain, it may help to talk to someone about your melanoma diagnosis. Can I suggest you ring the dedicated nurses helpline at Melanoma Focus as they will explain everything you need to know to help you deal with what is ahead in the way of treatment for that https://melanomafocus.org/melanoma-helpline/

I also recommend contacting Macmillan - better still if you have either a Macmillan Centre or Maggies Centre in your area - they can provide counselling to help you deal with the diagnosis & the forthcoming diagnosis for the brain growth.

Hopefully the brain growth will be benign or that it can be treated quickly if malignant.

I've sent you a friend request - if you feel you'd like to chat to me by private message just accept the request. I hope you aren't waiting too long for an answer from the neuro team. Good luck & please let us know how you get on,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
