Bowel cancer

Hi, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September and underwent surgery on 18 October to remove a 4cm tumour and 14cm of my colon.

24 lymph nodes were removed and cancer was found in 2 of them. I have been told I have a slight possibility that the cancer may return and they think I might benefit from having chemotherapy.

is there anyone who has been diagnosed with bowel cancer stage 3 and chosen not taken up the chance to have chemotherapy? I’m in two minds as what to do for the best.

  • Hi Prettyp and welcome to the forum.

I'm glad to hear your surgery was successful although I'm sorry you're currently in two minds about whether to go ahead with the chemo.

Hopefully some of our members who have had chemotherapy for bowel cancer will stop by when they can to offer their thoughts and advice, but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to answer any questions or concerns you may have about having the chemo.

Whatever you'll decide, the Cancer Chat community will support you every step of the way.

    Kind regards,
