On the 23 oct 2024 iwas told i had a form of skin cancer Turns out it was PENOSCROTAL CANCER

Hi my name is Lee, in feb 2024 i went to my gp practice i had spoken to a locome on the phone he asked what was my problem, i said i think i have a form of skin cancer, immediately he asked me to come along, i got along there as fast as possible,he called me straight in he examined me and said "" there's nothing to worry about this cream will clear you up"" I said thankyou and left after him telling me it was'nt skin cancer. But i had this nagging doubt, any way i used this cream for about two months it was still there it did'nt get any bigger or smaller so left it, a few months later i showed my girl-friend and she said get a second opinion so i had my dr call me i explained everything to her how it looked the size the colour and where it was, she gave me cream on the thursday,by friday morning i received a call from a clinic asking me to go up i said i couldn't until tuesday 2july . so that morning i went to the clinic with my girlfriend, iwas called through by the female dr, i sat in her office we discussed things ect... then she wanted to examine me, bang goes my dignity out the door i thought!!!! Then the dr said she wanted to do a biopsy right there and now , i knew by the look on her face it was'nt good news but she did'nt say, she done the biopsy and that was the job done as i thought dr said results take upto 8 wks i said ok thanks and thanked her and left with my girlfriend. As the weekis passed then into months i was getting very scared by the time the news came through i was about to have a nervous breakdown, 23 oct is the day i got the call from the dr who did the biopsy her words were Lee im so sorry to tell you its a form of skin cancer, i knew that was the results i was going to get i thanked her for everything she did for me  and all the help i had from her,she said she was going to get in touch with the hospital immediately, by 12th november i had my pre-op done on the 13 july i went in for the operation to have this cancer removed, i was ment to be in for the one day out by night i was kept in over night as i was in so much pain. By the following day i was up and about was given morphine that next morning ,id seen the surgeon they were happy with the operation and happy with the stitches and gave me the the thumbs upto go home ,but ive to go back in two weeks for a follow up. I've just turned 58 im very athletic i never thought for one second i'd ever be told i had cancer so going back to 23rd october the way ive got through this is to do a diary and be in denial pretend i dont have it and all will go away, I refused to speak to anyone about it, if i was to discuss this i'd breakdown and i dont know where i'd end up,  This is my story of how i found out i had  penoscrotal Cancer.....

  • Hello Lee,

Thank you for coming here and opening up to us about your story. I am sure it will be inspirational to many on our forum who are going through something similar.  It sounds like you had this intuition from the start that the cream would not work for you. Your girlfriend gave you really good advice to get a second opinion and it seems like from then onwards you were looked after really well and the operation was a success.

It can be really hard to talk about all this to others but I wanted you to know that here on Cancer Chat you are in a safe space to talk to others who can truly relate to what you went through. I am glad that you eventually had a diagnosis and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been diagnosed with penile cancer.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from the surgery/any treatment you may have and keep us updated if you don't mind on how things develop for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie, thankyou for taking the time to read my cancer issue, yes your so right it was PENILE CANCER, i had put down the words the surgeon had written, i'm so sorry if in-put the wrong words on my forum, yes my girlfriend was the one who said to get a second opinion, and i did, i'm more shocked at my dr saying it was a wart! When i first found out what kind of cancer i had i closed shut like a book, i refused to discuss anything with my girlfriend as i didn't want her to worry or be upset anymore than she was,so i refused to talk to anyone at all ,instead i started up a journal i found that gave me piece of mind and getting it out rather than it build up me. I found it so helpful. But thankyou for getting in touch & yes i will share and help others as much as i can, if i can help just one person then i no iv'e done right.

                                                         thankyou so much Lucie

                                                              kind regards
