New to the group - scared I won't be able to help my husband when he starts chemo

Hi,my husband is starting chemo on Friday and I am scared l won't be able to help him. We made it through the bowel op and the tumour was successfully removed. That seemed easy in comparison to what comes next.

Any one else feel inadequate?

  • Hi Audrey and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm so glad that your husband's tumour was successfully removed and he has recovered well from his op, although I'm sorry for the worries you have about being able to support him during the next stage of his treatment.

I hope this information we have about chemotherapy for bowel cancer will help you feel more prepared, but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

Quite a lot of our members will understand where you're coming from Audrey, so you are not alone, and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

We're thinking of you Audrey and wishing your husband all the best with his chemo tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
