Hello - I’m new to this and it’s a bit of a roller coaster

Hello, I’ve recently been diagnosed with low grade non-Hodgkins lymphoma (nhl)having previously been misdiagnosed with CLL. It’s been a bit of a roller coaster. I’m in the Active Supervision phase (couldn’t get my head around the Watch and Wait description)  and now just waiting on a mantle cell test result.
My lymph nodes are enlarged in my groin, armpits and neck but they have started to ache in my left armpit and also on the left side of my groin. Is this something that I should let the Dr Know about or just part of having nhl?

Best for now.

  • Hi Rodders_Trotter1,

I can imagine it has been a bit of a rollercoaster for you - poor you having been initially misdiagnosed with CLL when it was instead a low grade lymphoma. I can imagine there is still a lot of unknown as you are waiting on additional test results.

I think it would not do any harm to flag the fact that your lymph nodes have started to ache in your left armpit and on the left side of your groin - do tell your doctor as they will definitely want to know this information and they will be able to explain to you why this is happening. They definitely need to be made aware of any change or anything new that you notice.

Your story reminds me of that of another member of our community I replied to recently  who was diagnosed with low grade follicular lymphoma - you can read more on this thread and feel free to respond to them if you would like to do so.  also posted this thread and was also waiting for results last month and would be another good person for you to chat to here. These are just a couple of examples but I wanted you to know you are not alone.

If you have any questions about anything, feel free to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Do get in touch with your doctor as soon as you can  about these aching lymph nodes and I hope that they will be able to reassure you. Waiting for test results is not easy and we have these helpful tips too to help you cope while waiting for important news.

    Best wishes,
