Hi I’m 60 years old and in October I was diagnosed with Merkel cell carcinoma. I had an operation to remove the lump from my forearm and 3 lymph nodes out of my armpit. I’m recovering slowly. Has anyone else had this rare cancer ?

Hi mohem,
Thank you for coming here and sharing your story and I hope that you are recovering well from the operation. There is information on our website on merkel cell carcinoma which I hope you will find useful. I've come across several other members of our community with merkel cell carcinoma and I hope that they will pop by and share their experience with you. For example, I remember Jw82 posted this thread - this member's dad was also diagnosed with merkel cell carcinoma and also had the surgery a few months ago followed by radiotherapy and would therefore be a good person for you to connect with. Ande also posted this thread which you are welcome to respond to if you wish. These are just a couple of examples and I hope that you will be chatting away soon on this forum to others who have been diagnosed with this rare cancer.
If you have any questions about merkel cell carcinoma or simply want to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
