Just looking for support or information

I started hormone injection to treat lung cancer, 6 months ago The treatment is affecting my pancreas leading to me spending 10 days in hospital. My treatment is set by a hospital and not my local hospital. So I have little support, I did buck up courage to speak to my GP this week. My treatment is new so I have not been able to find any information other than what the hospital have given me.  I am now on creon capsules to protect my pancreas. I not sure if I won't to continue with the hormone injections

  • Hi Lizzy.,

I am so sorry to hear that the treatment is affecting your pancreas and has resulted in you spending 10 days in hospital. As it's a new treatment and you are finding it hard to get all the information you need, you must be feeling like you are not getting enough support and that you don't really know what to expect. Well done for plucking up the courage to speak to your GP this week. Was the GP able to give you any additional information?  It might be worth getting in touch too with your lung cancer specialist at your hospital who should have the expertise to answer questions you may have on this treatment and who will help you make the best decision as to whether you should persevere with this treatment or whether there are other alternatives for you.

Feel free also to phone the Cancer Research UK nurses if you have questions or want to talk about your treatment - the number to ring is 0808 800 4040 and the free helpline line is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. They may be able to tell you more about hormone injections for lung cancer and point you in the right direction in terms of support and information. They also have an Ask the Nurses topic area on the forum where you are welcome to post at any time.

I hope that the creon capsules will be effective in protecting your pancreas and that you get to talk to someone soon about your treatment concerns.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for the reply my GP is going to write to the hospital concerned, I must admit I am struggling to know that to do next.
