Stage 1 Breast Surgery with Sentinel Lymph node biopsy

Hello, my name is Edwena aged 60 and I had breast surgery Tuesday 29th Oct. I am managing okay with exercises and painkillers. Just wondering is it normal to keep feeling really hot my complexion is extremely red instead of the grey colour I was told after blue dye.

Also when I take bra off for showering is very painful, I am a 38G cup so definitely need to wear one as advised by surgeon. Today day 4 is probably my most painful day.

  • Hi there I had similar surgery on 16th October. I am 38h. Got good surgical bras from m n s and keep them on day n night. I was going hot but has eased and I get pain which they've said is nerve damage but will get better. I'd did get it checked ,have you spoken to your breast nurse just to check ?   I'm day 17 and still some discomfort rather than pain. I have got back to the gym and I'm back driving. They've said trial n error on what can do daily to gradually build up . Hope your doing ok xx

Hi, thank you so much for your reply and reassurance. I've not spoken to breast nurse as thought early days.

That makes sense nerve damage. I too bought a bra from M&S and one from Sainsbury's which is the most comfortable one.

Wow that's amazing back at gym. I love aqua aerobics and swimming so not allowed for 6 weeks. Have you had your results from surgery? I get mine on 13th November.

Hope you continue to improve xx

I had an appointment for the 1st Nov. It was cancelled as they weren't back . They said pathology are behind as hoping they will have them this week then they will call me to go in ! Always a waiting game!  I had grade two invasive but they'd said felt no lymph nodes involved so fingers crossed  all stayed the same! Ive been working from home but going back to the office tomorrow . They said I'd get radiotherapy started in January . Hope you pain is better today xx

Hi, fingers crossed you get results this week, that is the worst having to wait!

I caught the scare under my arm this morning which was 'ouch' mainly showering and dressing is the most painful. Once bra is on so much more bearable.

Hope work goes well tomorrow. Take care xx

Ooh ouch ! Hope it's settled. I took note for m your message and went to Sainsbury's for another bra today ,they were cheaper than m&s as well .bonus!  I had a reaction to the dressing after the biopsy and mag seed incersion so after stitching my wound was glued and left with no dressing .it has healed lovely so far . I'll update when I get my results.  Hope you get yours without any wait. Xx
