Diagnosed ER+ PR+ HER2-

Hi All,

I recently noticed a change it the way my left breast looked, nipple inverting only slightly but noticeable to me. I for a few weeks took photos and kept checking thinking it was due to my hormones and the coil being fitted in March 2024 due to heavy bleeding and clot issues.

18th September my GP examined and couldn’t feel any lumps but I was referred to have mammogram.

2nd October Mammogram completed along with scan which found a lump 1.5cm behind the nipple and swelling in my lymph in armpit. Whilst there 2 biopsy taken for further investigation

Further appointment was confirmed for 5th November for results but I was so anxious and suffer with high bloood pressure I called and appointment brought forward to 22nd October

Feeling nervous and worried but thinking all will be ok I was told I had Breast Cancer grade 2 ER+ PR+ HER2 and surgery planned for 20th December to remove nipple and aerola with biopsy of the synoid in armpit and removal of lymph

started Tamoxifen meds and coil removed

Now a waiting game for surgery and the treatment plan after

Feeling Lots of things and just reaching out to people that have experienced the same diagnosis

  • Hi Jolamine

hope you are well and things are going ok

Received an appointment for today but it’s now moved to Saturday for oncologist

in the meantime Tuesday night my boob are swelled very red and what looked like a dimple appeared. Saw GP and confirmed infection so antibiotics 2 four times a day 500mg for a week and signed off

Last night it burst so had to clean and dress the area but felt relief , not so red today  antibiotics doing the job however I now have a small hole as the burst just found the weakest part of the scar to break xx about the size of the end of my thumb but I’ve cleaned with sterile and warm salt water as told and dressed xx see how it looks tomorrow but it may need a stitch as to wide to repair itself close

just a little bump in the road

  • Hi Saralou123, hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread. I was jut reading about the fact that your wound has opened up and you were thinking that it might need a stitch. I had a mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction in October. A couple of weeks after surgery a section of my tummy wound opened ( 1 1/2-2 inches long  I asked if they could stitch it up, but they told me that they couldn't  do that, as the wound needs to heal from the bottom up. They said stitching it could create a cavity inside, which would then cause issues. It may be different for you though, as from what you say your wound is small. Hope it heals quickly for you. Xx

  • Hi

thank you for your message xxx I attended hospital and no stitches required as it’s starting to congeal so it’s healing it’s self

the antibiotics are giving me stomach and diarrhoea  but I need to continue to take them so rest at home for me currently

oncologist appointment tomorrow so will no when treatment will be set, maybe a set back with this infection but good to have a plan

    xx

  • Hi Saralou123, glad to hear that your wound is healing itself. Good luck with your radiotherapy, you will be fine. I found the hardest part was the travelling, but the radiotherapy itself was fine and painless. Xx

  • Hi Sarah,

Sorry, I wrote this reply 2 days ago, but forgot to post it.

What a pity that your appointment was deferred, otherwise it would have been perfect timing to get your scar dressed. Make sure to mention this on Saturday. Instead of stitching it they may use Steristrips. These are small strips, which hold both sides of the wound together. My scars have never burst, but the breasts did swell up a lot and were very uncomfortable. I had fluid aspirated out of them about 3 times and I got great relief, each time that this was done.

I am glad to see that your scar is already starting to congeal. Sorry to hear that the antibiotics are causing you problems. I hope that all goes well with the Oncologist tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hope all goes well today xxx

  • Oh, I am sorry to hear your meds were making you feel poorly.  Hopefully you get meds you can tolerate.

Rest up and plenty of fluids.  ( as I am sure you know ).

    Take care xxx

  • Hi Sarah,

I am really sorry to hear this. These 'bumps; tend to go with the territory, but they are frustrating when they happen. I do hope that things settle down soon.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi,

We have been to see oncologist today and they discussed chemo and radio therapy as my next treatment but ultimately it’s my decision difficult …

The statistics between chemo at 86% and RT 89% so only 3% difference based on all breast cancer for everyone one who has Had BC this is stats based on the next 15years

discussed what my gut feeling said and i have opted for just RT because the difference is so little and I am young and caught early , not staged but graded and only spread to 1 lymph with the next 4 confirmed all good no spread. Also they state so am cancer free.

    started back

    ln tamoxifen today too xx

So hard when we cannot see into the future but we must trust our instinct too

Next week i will have a CT scan appointment and then my RT will be 20 sessions over a 4 week period. They will RT the breast that had cancer and then the armpit and then my breast bone.

For now I will return back to work as of Monday 17th Feb as i need some normality,

any advice on preparing for RT starting or advice on tackling symptoms would be appreciated. I am worried still about the next stage but keeping positive I have come so far

i know I need to practice deep breaths and holding as it’s my left side so this will help my heart through this process

hope you are all well too and still continuing to live a happy life but with strength and positivity
