I had breast cancer 2019 had a lumpectomy and sessions of radiotherapy and was advised to take letrozole , after3 months of taking it I stopped it didn’t feel well . I had a Dexa scan as well as routine
forward to feb 2024 had another dexa scan wasn’t worried as I haven’t been taking the letrozole so I shouldn’t have osteoporosis ( I am 61 )
the lady doing the scan said I had osteoporosis in my spine and I was shocked , I had to wait till march 24 for the write up to go to my doctor ,the report says secondary osteoporosis?
I’ve had blood test to check for other reasons for it nothing as come form it , only lyphmocytes which have slightly increased but nothing alarming
my question is can docters who have read the scan see cancer in my bones from the cancer .? Can you see cancer on a dexa scan
I’ve asked for a mri but the doctor said no as there is nothing there but I’m worried my spine has a decreased bone loss of 14% from the pervious one
I just need to know can you see cancer or not on a dexa scan . Any advise will be helpful, and I hope everyone is well xxxxxxx
