Hello my history

I’m a 63 year old Mum and Grandmother. I started off with Bowel Cancer, which was diagnosed in September 2022. I had the tumour removed in November 2022 and started chemotherapy CAPOX, in January 2023. Although initially only given 6 months to live, I was classed as in remission in. August 2023. More growth found in my endometrium in March 2024. Back on chemotherapy but tablets had no affect and a spot on my right lung and enlarged lymph nodes found in my abdomen in Junes CT scan, placed back on CAPOX in July 2024. Just had CT scan and first spot had grown and another has been found, the lymph nodes are also more enlarged.
I am now due to see my Oncologist in two weeks to look at going on two different intravenous drugs, second line ones which they say they hope to hold the cancer where it is if not possibly shrink them.

  • Hello Bonno,

Thank you for coming here and sharing your cancer story. You've certainly been through a lot since 2022 and I am so sorry to hear that the latest CT scan has flagged that the first spot has grown and another has been found and the lymph nodes are also more enlarged.

Best of luck for your appointment with the oncologist in 2 weeks - if you get a chance, let us know how it goes and what they advise is the best course of action. I hope that these two different intravenous drugs will work in keeping the cancer at bay and at shrinking these spots. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and we are here for you anytime you need to talk or offload. I am sure that there will be other members of our community who will relate to your story and it helps sometimes to talk here to others going through a similar experience.

If you have any questions or simply need to talk to one of our cancer nurses about your situation, they have a free helpline you can ring on 0808 800 4040 - it is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
