New here - breast cancer treatment underway

Hello there,

After being diagnosed with a triple-negative breast cancer at the beginning of August aged 44, I am currently having weekly chemotherapy trreatment.

I am currently partway through cycle 3 (of 8) and feel like things are going pretty well. I haven’t really felt too unwell - just very tired and I’ve been using the cold cap to protect my hair which is starting to thin now, but not noticeably so.

I’m lucky to have a great family and friend group around me who have all been very supportive, if not shocked at my diagnosis.

I guess mainly, I’m trying to remain positive throughout and just take each day as it comes along.

Sending good thoughts to you all for positive outcomes

  • Hello Fox500

Welcome to the forum, although I am sorry to hear about the news that led you to find us. It sounds as if you're approaching your diagnosis and treatment with a positive mindset, and undoubtedly, I know that this will stand you in good stead as you move forward. It's great to hear that your family and friends are also supporting you so well.

It can sometimes be tough to remain positive at all times so don't panic if you have days where you feel wobbly. It's a natural part of the journey that you're on. Just make sure that you're talking with your loved ones, your breast care nurse or other cancer support services such as Maggie's. We also have a team of nurses here at CRUK that you can call to talk with if you feel it would be helpful at any point. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you will connect with others who have been through treatment for breast cancer soon and they will be able to share their positive outcomes with you.

Keep in touch Fox500 and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
