  • Hi Lucknow,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

It is normal to worry when you are urgently referred. However, more than 9 out of 10 people (more than 90% of people) who have an urgent suspected cancer referral will not be diagnosed with cancer. We have some information on our website about referrals to a specialist. And another page that explains a bit more about urgent referrals.

We hope that you find the forum useful.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi. A positive stool test means they found blood in your stool. Under 10 basically means no blood or a negligible amount. Over 10 means they found blood that needs investigation. Lots of things can cause this - hemorrhoids, a fissure, a polyp, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's, diverticulitis, infections, cancer, etc.

The majority are not cancer, but yeah, it's hard not to panic when it's an option at all.

Good luck with your tests, I do hope it all goes smoothly for you. I imagine you’re feeling anxious to get everything done and get some answers. I know I am
