Hello - nervous about starting chemotherapy

Hello everyone, I've just joined this page, I was diagnosed in June with gallbladder cancer and I've had major surgery as it had started spreading to my liver, I'm going great with my recovery, on Monday 21st October I'm due to start adjuvant chemotherapy via tablets called capecitabine, to say I'm extremely anxious is a understatement, looking for support and advice on getting through this.  Thank you

  • Hello Specialkay

I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with gallbladder cancer not so long ago. It's good to know that your post-op recovery has gone well and hopefully this means that physically you're feeling good ahead of the next phase of your treatment plan.

It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about starting your chemotherapy treatment next week. Try not to think too far head and just take things a day at a time. everyone's experience of chemotherapy is different and you may find that things are much easier than you're anticipating.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses ahead of starting your treatment you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you're coping next week Specialkay. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
