Feeling scared about what's to come - just been diagnosed with womb cancer

Hi all

I have just been  diagnosed with womb cancer and am absolutely petrified of what's to come. I will be having MRI and trays nest week  which I presume is to see if it has spread. I am struggling to eat and sleep and can't help thinking the worst is going to happen.  I feel.like my body has become a monster.

  • Hello Bellaandbrue

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with womb cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling so scared about what this may mean for you.

It's good to hear that the specialists have already requested additional scans and tests and hopefully, this means it won't be too long before they have all the information they need to make a clear diagnosis and talk with you about treatment options.

We know that this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult for many people. It's natural to struggle with sleeping and eating. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face and often our minds will wander to worst-case scenarios.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our team of nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can to help whilst you're waiting for more news. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Bellaandbrue and let us know how you get on. Hopefully you will have some updates and reassurance from the specialists soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn

  • Hi just read your chat and  thought As I’d gone through the same as you a few months ago you might need some support. Have you had your results yet?

  • Hi

What were your systems, I'm going through tests at the moment xx

I had a very small blob of blood once in  May and same in  June as I’m  68 it was not normal and that was all,  ultrasound sound showed thickened uterus of 10cm, after sample taken MRI and ct scan done was diagnosed with grade 1 stage 1B womb cancer. Have had full hysterectomy on 23 of August and am now waiting for vaginal brachytherapy. Which is on 7th 12th and 14th November all been a whirlwind of emotions but have come through it all so far and feeling ok most of the time.

No other symptoms just glad I acted on the symptoms I had.  Feeling physically fine a few twinges occasionally and sometimes feel a bit sorry for myself but otherwise fine just have to tell myself it could have been a lot worse.

How long did it take for your results to come back? I’m into 1 week now xx

About 2 weeks so not long now and then everything after that was pretty quick altogether less than 3 months from first GP visit to full hysterectomy I know how hard this waiting game is but you’ll get through it   Keep strong.! I’ll be thinking about you xx
