Yes I've had a few of these. . Several lager polyps removed with EMR procedure. I watched the screen throughout most of it. Didn't feel anything when they did it but colonoscopy procedure is quite painful for me as I've had a right hemicolectomy ( quite a bit of large intestine removed). Tbh I'd take max sedation, max painkiller, gas and air and try to relax. Its not horrendous and some people don't feel much at all.
Expect some blood when you have first bowel motion afterwards.
Eat easily digested food for a couple of days. Eggs, chicken , fish potatoes. Lay off fried foods, high fibre stuff.
And try not to stress
Hello Gillm
thank you for replying and for your reassurance. I’m terrible with managing pain always have been! Good to know removal of polyp will be pain free. Thank you for the guidance on the diet and what can happen post procedure. Get through this and ten woory about results! Hope you have a nice day

They usually give you a written report right after a colonoscopy and altho polyps go off to the lab for histology they also tell me if any polyps are of concern or are harmless. I've had about 65 removed so far so I'm a bit like whatever about it all now.
Hi I've had one I never felt a thing ,I had sedation but I didn't even feel sedated I was wide awake the whole time ,really weird ,but the good thing is they will most likely tell you if there's anything untoward found or not .
Oh Gillm
I can’t begin to imagine all those procedures for polyps! You must get fed up with it and of course as the procedure hurts you. I wish I wasn’t focusing on myself so much!
Hi Jenny
Thank you for replying. I suppose it feels different for different people. Can’t believe I had sedation for the first one but it felt like an iron rod and had to be stopped. Feeling scared!

They can up sedation. and give u strong pain relief buscupan to relax bowel and gas and air. I have everything lol
Oh wow that’s good! I’m worried about results but more worried at moment about procedure. Does that make any sense?
Yes of course.
I still get stressed by it all and I've had 15 colonoscopies, several with EMR procedures.
I do watch the screen too ,again sort of distracting. And always interested when they inject under polyps to raise them for easier removal. Doesnt hurt
I have sedation and pain relief but I have to say gas and air seriously helps on top of that. And this is going to sound like TMI but also lidocaine - local anesthetic on the botty. Sounds a lot but as I've so much scar tissue from previous surgeries that I need it and also their no reason to suffer if don't need to. The polyp removal is painless tho.
Have also found chatting to one of the nurses distracting from everything helps to.They know my life story haha.
If you have a water assisted colonoscopy be prepared for a bit of water to exit when you go to the loo. With the air assisted ones be prepared to be v windy.
Ah Gillm thank you so much for sharing. You are wonderful! Going to ask for everything I can have to get through it! You have made me feel much more at ease. A big hug for you (hope that’s okay).
