Hello and help - very anxious about EMR colonoscopy referral

Hi

I am new to the site. I am wondering if anyone can help. I have to have an EMR colonoscopy and I am so frightened. It is a large polyp and hard to reach. I recently had a failed colonoscopy as I could not tolerate the pain even with sedation.  I can’t get hold of the consultant who referred me as he is on holiday. I am now very anxious can’t sleep and crying. Sorry if I am being ‘soft’ just feel alone with it.

any help would be appreciated

  • Welcome back to the forum Pauline although I'm sorry for the anxiety your upcoming EMR colonoscopy is causing.

    I hope the support and advice you have received from our members on your other discussion has helped put your mind at ease, but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to support you and answer any other questions you may have about this.

    We're thinking of you Pauline and will have our fingers crossed that all goes well with the procedure when the time comes.

    Thank you for your welcome and message of support. The postings from others have been really helpful. I’m scared of the result I will get but more scared of the procedure at the moment. A really bad experience of first colonoscopy so scared! I will ring the nursing team and have a chat. Thank you for thinking of me it really helps.
