Hi All,

I was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of July. I’m a male, ex-smoker aged 79.

i am going into Hospital on Monday 7th October for surgery.

its called a Video Assisted Thoracoscopy.

Has anyone had one ?

  • Hello again, it’s 3:00am.I had my surgery yesterday. The consultant said it went as expected. Feeling knackered, sore but relieved. Staff, nurses, doctors are amazing. I’m full of trapped air and just wish I could do a big burp or f@rt .The op took about three hours from start to finish. Have also got sore throat and husky voice from intubation.

I'm glad it all went well was going to message you today to see how you are - I had no problem releasing the air in fact it was like a belching chorus in my room with myself and another lady in the ward much to the nurse brad's dismay!  He was so lovely in fact they all were on that ward
