Confused and alarmed

Surgeon said post op that there was no sign of any other cancer in my pelvis or nothing obvious. I did have my other ovary removed over twenty years ago due to a large cyst. If this ovarian cancer is a secondary as they think as it is a signet cell carcinoma would other deposits of it not be fairly obvious. The surgeon did not even do any washings ! Prior to discovering I had the large cyst I had no symptoms and normal CAA 125. Very worried and anxious as too many unknowns Now being sent to see Colorectal Doctors

  • Hello Swimming64

I'm sorry to hear that following your recent surgery and diagnosis you've been left with some unanswered questions and concerns. It's perfectly understandable that you're feeling anxious and worried.

Have you been told when you may receive an appointment to see the colorectal team? Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and they will be able to identify where this cancer has started. Once they have found out where the cancer started they will be better able to give you some answers and reassurance about the next steps.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can ahead of your appointment as well as help you think about any questions that you might want to ask the colorectal team. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some clarity soon Swimming64. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
