Just been diagnosed with Melanoma. Not coping very well. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi alll,

Just seen diagnosed with melanoma,  got to wait now to see if it's spread to my limph nodes, I have had a  couple of bruises on my arms and my breathing has got worse,

I'm not coping very well as I can't stop thinking about it and it's stopping me sleeping, any advice I'd be grateful of. Thanks

  • Hi,

Bruising isn't a known symptom of melanoma but your breathlessness is probably due to stress & worry over your diagnosis. I'm assuming, if you are having a Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, that you are either Stage 1b or Stage 2? I will send you a friend request - if you accept it we can chat by private message but meanwhile, try & find ways to calm your worries - meditation, mindfulness, yoga, long walks in the countryside, listening to your favourite music whilst taking a long, soothing bath - anything that works for you. If your anxiety is overpowering, see your GP who may prescribe something to help. The thing to focus on is that the mole has been removed & that the next surgical procedures are to ensure it's all gone and to see what treatment, if any, is needed next. Take care,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
