Hello,

               My name is Jim, I'm 78 and II was diagnosed with bladder cancer in June 2024 I have now had a TURBT and 5 weeks of Mitomycin C chemo. I have found the chemo fairly problem free apart from some soreness on the day of the chemo. I am now wondering how long mitomycin c generally delays the return of bladder cancer (and consequently how long I will need ongoing cystuscopies).

               Any comments from patients who have exprienced this would be welcomed.

    It's difficult to say how well mitomycin c will work in your case, but you can speak to your doctor or nurse as they'll probably have a better idea on this.               Thanks for your response.

              I'm interested in trying to get a feel for how long I'm likely to be subject to ongoing cystoscopies , and their frequency, as I have found previous ones (diagnostic) unpleasant and uncomfortable.

              I've been given some advice to ask the urologist doing the cystoscopy to give the anaesthetic gel more time to work before inserting the probe, which makes sense and reassures me slightly, subject, of course, to the urologist's workload and need  to "get on with the job". But I can only hope that expessing my concerns to the urologist w2ill work
