Investigation for womb cancer

Hello my name is Vicky, 42 years old and currently on the urgent 2 week pathway for a biopsy after an abnormal scan. My scan came back with a thickening lining of my womb 10mm (18 months ago it was 7mm). Cyts on my cervix and a large right ovary.
I have been on hrt for around 4 months and after getting lower back pain that radiates into my pelvis and spotting in between period’s I took myself to the dr to get checked out as something in the back of my mind was telling me something was wrong , worried sick and fearing the worst.

just wondering if anyone knows the average time for a referral for a biopsy? Would love to hear from anyone else experiencing this right now.

  • Hello Vicky

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns recently. You did exactly the right thing in going to see your GP and it's great to know that you've already had some initial investigations and you're now waiting for an appointment with the specialists.

We know that this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult for many people. It's natural that you may have some questions about your situation and worries about possible outcomes. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment with the gynaecology team and they will be able to give you some answers and reassurance.

I know that we've had lots of women who have been through a similar process share their stories here in the Cancer Chat community. Hopefully you will hear from some of them but in the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on Vicky.

    Best wishes,
