colorectal cancer - would my age stop me from having surgery?

I am a76 year lady who has just been diagnosed  with colorectal cancer and have a colovaginal  fistula had an MRI scan and will get a CT scam later this week. Have an appointment to see a surgeon at end of month and was wondering if my age and small build would stop any surgery taking place.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Glencoe although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Unfortunately I can't answer the question you've asked in your post but we have a very knowledgeable team of cancer nurses that may be able to help so if you'd like to talk things through with them, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and they will do all they can to give you the information you're seeking and help you prepare for what may lie ahead.

Hopefully you will hear back from some of our members who have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer too, but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Glencoe and wishing you all the best with your appointment at the end of the month.

    Kind regards,
