Breast cancer

Hi I have had breast cancer from December, I'm 2 operations in , and have handled it ok , but this last week I just want to cry all the time and really dont feel like I can tell anyone, don't no who to chat too but need help

  • Hello Louiseloulou

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been going through treatment for breast cancer. Even though you feel that you've coped really well over the past 8 months, it's undoubtedly been difficult for you at times and it's not surprising that you're now feeling overwhelmed and emotional.

You've done exactly the right thing in reaching out for support Louise and hopefully, things will begin to improve for you over the coming days and weeks.

I don't know who, or what support you have around you but I'd encourage you to share with a close friend or family member how you're feeling. Sometimes a good cry over a cup of coffee can be incredibly cathartic and hopefully, your family and friends will be able to rally around to support you.

Please also speak with your breast care nurse. You will not be their first patient who finds themselves suddenly feeling overwhelmed by things and I'm sure that they will be able to offer you some support and reassurance. They should be able to let you know what support services are available in your local area such as Maggies or it may be that there is a specialist cancer counselling service they can refer you to.

You are most welcome to give our nurses a call to talk things through as well. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

You have been through such a lot over the past few months Louise, even if it hasn't necessarily felt like it at times. Be kind to yourself and reach out to those around you for support. The Cancer Chat community is here to listen and offer any support that we can.

    Best wishes,
