Hello I'm Amanda - diagnosed with breast cancer. Told to stop taking my HRT, but really struggling without it. Can anyone help?

I had a mammogram April 2023 and they found cancer in my left breast and I'm my lymph nodes under my armpit. I had surgery in the June they got it all I had radiotherapy. On the day they told me I had cancer I was told I had to stop taking my HRT but I am suffering really bad with hot flushes to the point where I feel like I'm going to be sick and worse case that I'm going to pass out. Iv tried a few supplements but they don't help

    Hi Amandab52, I would suggest you go to your GP, as I'm sure they will be able to prescribe an alternative. I too had to stop taking hrt when I was diagnosed and the flushes were awful. As I was on chemo, I asked at the hospital what would be the best option for the GP to prescribe for me. They suggested Venlafaxine, which my gp was happy to prescribe. This has worked well for me so far. I wish you well moving forward. Xx

    Im in the same position and finding it quite hard with no HRT, and worried re the prospect of 5 yrs of oestrogen blockers too. Did you try anything else? My consultant has recommended acupuncture
