Piperboy - tumour on the stomach wall, already living with myeloma

Hi I just want to introduce myself. I have myeloma which thankfully it is in remission just now but I was still getting treatment.  The treatment caused me to have chronic fatigue. My consultant decided to reduce my chemo dosage and only take steroids on day of treatment. This seemed to be working okay.

However. I had a couple of really bad doses of diarrhoea and tummy pains, not too bad mostly niggles. My daughter thought I should talk to someone about this so I phoned my myeloma nurse. She said that I should come into hospital to some tests. I had an x-ray but doctor wasn’t happy with that and wanted me to have a scan.  Unfortunately the scan showed that I had two tumours, one in my stomach and one in my bowel. The doctor arranged for me to have an urgent colonoscopy. There was no tumour found.. well a benign one and he took quite a few samples for biopsies. I have not had the results of that yet. My consultant phoned me when I got home. I was a bit confused as to why they said there was a tumour in my bowel. Anyway, he said the tumours on the wall of my stomach were a real concern. He said it was a secondary but they didn’t know where the primary was. I am to have a scan on Monday on my chest to see if anything shows up there. Also I have to see a gynae team so just waiting for that appointment. My Myeloma treatment has stopped while they deal with the other problem.

Has anyone had anything like this.

  • Hello Piperboy21

I'm really sorry to hear about all that you're going through at the moment. It's understandably a difficult time and natural that you're feeling anxious.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult, particularly as it's meant that your Myeloma treatment has been put on hold.

Hopefully, the scan tomorrow, along with the rest of the results that you're waiting for will bring some answers.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch Piperboy21 and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Jenn

Thank you for your quick response.

I went for my chest scan today but won’t hear anything for 7/10days although the gynae team who were supposed to meet last Thursday and now having meeting this Thursday will have access to the scan results. So hopefully they will find the primary from that. Just a waiting game and all we want are some answers.

I have a nurse that phoned me a few weeks ago. When I was in hospital someone came to see me and organised for someone to give me a call. I have to phone her back once I know what we are dealing with and we can chat about that.
