Feeling numb - recall from routine mammogram. Been told I have stage 2 cancer

I have had recall from my routine mammogram, 2 core biopsies, markers inserted, I am black and blue, I have been told 1 definite Stage 2 cancer but have to have a deeper biopsy on a second area! I feel devoid of all emotions?! I just feel numb ? Is this normal? Xx

  • Hi Florence67,

It's completely normal to feel numb in your situation having just been told you have stage 2 breast cancer - it can be a time as many of our members will tell you, when you are hit with the news and then feel totally devoid of all emotions. It can take a while for it all to sink in especially as you are still waiting to have a deeper biopsy on a second area and this uncertainty can also be a bit unsettling. I hope that you will get some clarity on all this very soon and when you find out more, if there is anything you want to know more about don't hesitate to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Other members of our forum will have been in exactly the same place as you before and I will let them come and say hello and share their story with you. It does help to talk to others who have experienced this feeling of 'numbness' before and who have also been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.

I hope you get more information soon regarding the diagnosis and as to what the treatment plan might be.

    Best wishes,
