Struggling – starting radiotherapy/chemotherapy

I have been told I need to start radiotherapy/chemotherapy.  The results are not coming back as quick as I thought. My nurse spoke to me today to say she has had to chase pathology to send the results ASAP. I had a colonoscopy in May. I feel like I am in no man/persons land. The nights are where my head starts to overthink things. I thought I was doing o.k.  but obviously I'm not. Luckily I have a fit note for work ( which d*** decided to call it a fit note ). My first time writing on here.

  • Hello KAZAann

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting to start chemotherapy treatment following a colonoscopy in May. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult and it's natural that your mind can start to overthink things.

It's good to know that your nurse has been in touch and that the team is chasing the results. Don't be afraid to get in touch with the hospital PALS team if you don't have an update soon. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns when using the NHS.

Sometimes, whilst you're waiting, it can help to talk things through with someone. If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses for some support and advice you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and help with any information and reassurance they can.

I do hope you have some news soon KAZAann. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
