Hi everyone - undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer

Hi everyone

I was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer in January this year after having right side of my thyroid out in December last year that I had biopsy on three times that showed nothing but had cancer in it , so I  had to have the other side of my thyroid out in Feb was due a neck dissection on my lymph nodes in neck as well but couldn’t do because of complications in theatre so wasn’t done .

Have now got to have either a biopsy or taken away a mass in my  chest that has reduced in size , and also may have to have neck dissection all before September when I’m due to have my radioactive iodine.
To say I’m not worried is not a understatement but I keep going on and try to remain strong to fight this but sometimes it is hard due to losing my partner in 2022 to cancer .

Well that’s my story and it’s nice to find a place to chat with other people that are going through the same

  • Hello 060151

I'm sorry to hear about all that you've been through over the past few months with biopsies, incomplete surgeries and then being told you have thyroid cancer. It sounds like it's been a real rollercoaster for you these past few months and it's understandable that you are feeling worried, especially having lost your partner just a few short years ago.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. It can sometimes help to talk with someone about your situation. If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses, I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully, the team will soon be able to give you some answers and a firmer treatment plan regarding the biopsy and neck dissection. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
