Stage four lung cancer age 44

Hi there I’m new to this page and would like to get some advice please? Was diagnosed 13 months ago non small lung cancer spread to right lung bones and liver given taggrisso 80mg kept things stable for 9months then had to go to hospital as lung had filled up 2 litres of fluid get this drained and told drug had stopped responding to tumour so I went on a combo of chemo and stayed on pill to protect the brain they said? After two months cancer had spread to stomach pelvis and abdomen? So now they said the only thing they can do is give me doxorubicin chemo? I’m so scared as heard it’s brutal?? Has anyone had this treatment to reassure me please! I have two small children and I’m petrified!

  • Hi Kyle and welcome to the forum.

I'm really sorry to hear the tagrisso has stopped working and the worries you have about starting doxorubicin.

I can see you made a similar post in our nurses section of the forum a few days ago. They have now replied and have provided some information about the chemo you'll be having next. I hope you find this useful but if you have any other questions or would just like to talk things through with someone, then do give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about what's to come.

Hopefully some of our members who have had doxorubicin as part of their treatment will share their experiences and advice with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Kyle and sending all our support to you at this very difficult time.

    Kind regards,
