I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's understandably a worrying time for you all and natural that you have concerns and questions. 

I wanted to give you this link to a (very long) thread of posts where people have shared their experiences of this diagnosis. Some posts are from people who were diagnosed, have undergone treatment, and are now well again. Some posts are from people who have had a loved one they have cared for through this disease. And sadly some posts are from people who have lost a loved one. But there is a lot of positivity and compassion on the thread and I hope that some of the messages will offer you some hope as your Mum goes for surgery.
