10 weeks waiting for biopsy result- no contact from hospital

Hello,

I’ve been waiting 10 weeks today for biopsy results, my original marker was 6-8 weeks.

Ive emailed the hospital and phoned twice on different days and left a message but there is no answer or reply. I’m not sure what I can do other than wait but starting to get really fed up especially with no response from the hospital.
Is there any other way I can seek advice?

thanks

  • Hi Francesca.  You could try speaking to your GP and asking him (or her) to chase it up for you.

  • Hi Francesca as Blue Girl said you can ask your GP to try and find out for you ,or you could get in touch with P.A.L.S at the Hospital Patient Advice Liaison Officer who will be able to help you with any concerns ,I guess you just ring your Hospital and ask to be put through to Pals help team they are very good my friend used them .

  • Who are you ringing? Are you ringing the general Dermatology Dept or the Appointment number on your letter? Google your hospital website & hopefully there should be more than one number for the Dermatology Dept. Keep ringing at different times of day - if it's a clinic day they may not have time to answer but on other days there should be a secretary or a Cancer nurse there. I know the number for my consultant's secretary so I always ring there with enquiries re appointments etc - I know that their melanoma clinics are on Wednesday afternoon & all day Thursday so I avoid ringing at these times. The day you had your dermatology consultation will be the day of the week their clinic falls on. Failing that, contact PALS as already suggested. Good luck,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
