Newly diagnosed with bowel cancer

Hi everyone I was diagnosed today with bowel cancer in the ascending colon,  I knew something wasn't right,  still in shock.

  • Hello Caz33daisy,

it does hit you for sure and after you manage to get your feet back working underneath you, start your journey with a positive. That  is that you have been diagnosed and treatment can start to put you back together again. Keep the positive attitude with you and nurture it like a good friend, it will reciprocate in kind and reward you for doing so.

l write this as a ten year survivor of stage 4 bowel cancer with a holiday escape to my liver, keeping stress down to lower levels is the one positive you can have control of, everything else is you along for the ride, and it can make a huge difference so embrace the calm and safe journey,

  • Thank you for your reply,  yes I'm still absorbing the news haven't read any of the info they gave me it's too much at the moment,

keeping stress at bay is going to be difficult as I have PTSD and a daughter who hates me.

  • I have had my operation to take a large piece of my bowel away,  from diagnosis to to surgery in just 9 days,  7 days post op today and about 85% back to normal, what an emotional ride it's been x

  • Hello Caz33daisy,

what a blessing that the momentum has been so rapid and you can now focus on regaining the outstanding 15%, good for you and keep moving quietly forward,
